Fort Cabo De Rama

Cebo De Rama Fort is situated in the southern tip of Goa about 26 km away from Margao in Goa South District. The name of the fort is derived from the famous character of Ramayana, Lord Rama. Inhabitants of the region believe that Lord Rama stayed in this fort with his wife Sita for sometime during his 14-year exile. The natural scenic beauty and the charming church of Santo Antonio are the major attractions of the Fort Cabo da Rama.

Cabo De Rama Fort was constructed by a Hindu ruler during Indian ancient age, but it was captured by Portuguese in 1763 AD. During the time period of Portuguese a church was constructed into the fort witch still remain today. The fort was also used as a jail until 1955. Now, the Fort is in ruins. The spectacular view of the Arabian Sea during sunset and the church are main attractions of the fort.

How to reach Cabo De Rama Fort?

Ravel by Airways: If you desire to reach Goa by airway then the Goa international airport is the only destination to you in the state. After reaching to the airport you have to travel by roadway to catch the beauty of Cabo De Rama Fort.

Travel by Railways: Nearest big railway station located about 26 km away in Margao. This station receives regular Express trains from Mumbai, Panjim and Mangalore. After reaching you easily can go to the fort with a car.

Travel by Roadways: Bus and taxis from are accessible here from the other parts of Goa are to Canacona. Bus services between Canacona and Margao are quite frequent. After reaching Canacona or Margao you can enter to the fort after few minutes car journey
