Gandhi Jayanti - A special date that Indians celebrate every year. 2nd October is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti across the nation. The day is celebrated to honor the birthday of a very special personality or who is the Father of the nation - Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He is popular as Mahatma Gandhi and Bapuji. He was one of those freedom fighters who fought for the nation to help us live an independent life.

Even beyond our nation. 2nd October is famous as the International Day of Non Violence as he was the person to believe in non-violence. He never chose violence but to fight without violence. He is the living sign of truth and peace.

In the year 1869, this famous person took birth on the 2nd of October. He was from a small town in Porbunder Gujarat. He then pursued his education and studied law from the United Kingdom. After his completion, he practiced law in South Africa. Even Gandhiji elaborated his childhood in the autobiography as "My Experiments with Truth." He also added that his wife Kasturba was a selection of his mother.

He got married when he was 13 years old to Kasturba and was dedicated to the motherland. He is the one to set an example of great thinking while living a simple life. He always valued simple and intelligence over money and violence. He was always against any kind of addictions. He is a face of intelligence, non-violence, and great thinking minds to the world.

Whilst he has done uncountable things for the nation, some of the famous contributions of this great Man are the Non-violent civil rights to get independence. Other than this, Quit India Movement and Salt Satyagraha.

Celebration in 2nd October

The entire nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Bapuji. Different programs are set by the political parties, government, civic bodies and much more throughout the nation to celebrate his birthday.

Even the schools and colleges celebrate this remarkable date by setting several occasions. Students perform different activities which are guided by the teachers, Principal and Vice-Principal gives lectures about the famous personality. This follows by offering garland to the picture or status of Gandhi and one minute of silence.

This year also the nation is going to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in a similar way on 2nd October Friday. You can check the Prime Minister paying tribute to the father of the nation on Television and several occasions are being held by the political parties.
