All about Lotus Temple (Bahai House)
The Baha'i House of Worship or Bahai Temple, popularly known as Lotus Temple, was completed in 1986. It is a worship house for Baha’i Faith. Baha’i Faith, the youngest religion in the World, was founded by Bahá’u’lláh. His mission is to unite all peoples in one universal Cause and one common Faith.
Lotus Temple is open for all kind of religion followers and they can also perform their own worship without any restrictions. The Bahá'í laws also stipulate that only the holy scriptures of any religions can be recite or chanted inside the Temple.
Architecture of Bahai House
This superb architectural temple was designed by a Persian architect, named Fariborz Sahba. It is basically made of with white marble, cement, dolomite and sand. It was a long time (nearly 10) to complete the design (blueprint) of the Temple. It was successfully constructed by continuous work of 800 engineers, technicians and artisans and thousands of labors.
You will found a big house for worship inside the temple and many other rooms like, reception center, library block, administrative building, restroom block and a underground room for electricity and plumbing components. The most attractive features of the temple are its 27 freestanding petals carved which made with marble. Its height is 130 feet with a capacity to accommodate 2,500 people inside the temple and surrounded by nine beautiful ponds appears to be floating like a lotus flower on the water.
