Kalkaji Temple (Kalka Mandir)
Kalka Mandir also called as Kalkaji Temple is placed near the Lotus Temple opposite the Nehru Place. It was constructed in 1764 ad to worship the Shakti Devi Maa Kalka or Maa Kali. It is believed that Maa Kali is an incarnation of Goddess Durga (Hindu faith). Still today, the temple holds a very modern and contemporary look.
There is a ritual to bath the idol of Kalka Devi two times with milk before Aarti (worship) everyday in morning and evening.
Architecture of Kalkaji Temple
After reconstruction of the temple Kalka devi, it get an shape of eight sided structure. It is completely constructed with marble and black pumice stones. The black color is the sign to denote the goddess Kali, so the temple construction is made of with black stone.
