Neil Island
Neil Island is one of the most visited tourist spots in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It situated just 38 km North-East from Port Blair, capital city of Andaman. Neil Island cover an area of approximately 19 sq km on the sea of "Bay of Bengal" and it mostly encircle with several sandy trees (especially coconut trees) and thick forest.
People of this region mainly depend on agriculture and tourism. According to the census report 2011 of India, approximately four thousands (4000) people reside here. There have five villages namely Sitapur, Bharatpur, Neil Kendra, Lakshmanpur and Ram Nagar. Administrative activities of the island are controlled by the Gram Panchayat of Neil Kendra Village.
Neil Island is a perfect destination for tourists who love marine life. You will found here several attractive sandy beaches and thick forest. This place is suitable for adventuring, water sporting, snorkeling, fishing and picnicking. Neil Islands are also famous for its hammocks. Hammock means a sandy beach which under shady trees.
How to reach at Neil Island?
If you planned to visit at Neil Island then you should first reach at Port Blair. After that you can travel for Neil Island with a Ferry. There have only one jetty in the island located at Bharathpur village which serves as entry–exit point.
