It is a small Island located in Andaman Islands group around 81 km away from Port Blair city. There have only one village where approximately two thousand people reside according to the census of India 2011, among them around 750 live permanently and rest come for business purpose. The natives of Long Island survive by fishing, cultivating crops or doing casual work where they can.

The main attraction of the island is Lalaji Bay beach which located 6 km (1.5 to 2 hours walking distance by beach way) away from the Long Island village or Jetty Ghat.
