About Long Island
It is a small Island located in Andaman Islands group around 81 km away from Port Blair city. There have only one village where approximately two thousand people reside according to the census of India 2011, among them around 750 live permanently and rest come for business purpose. The natives of Long Island survive by fishing, cultivating crops or doing casual work where they can.
Long Island is one of the most attractive spots in Andaman Islands group due to its natural sandy beaches and adventurous lovely evergreen jungles. The main attraction of the island is Lalaji Bay beach which located 6 km (1.5 to 2 hours walking distance by beach way) away from the Long Island village or Jetty Ghat. One can reach here through Jungle Path only in 15 minutes accompanied with superb sandy trees and beautiful bird singing. Another magical beach of the island is Marg Bay famed as a popular picnic spot.
There have no noise of automobiles or any types of industries complexity in Long Island. it is a suitable destination for beach camping with a makeshift tent due to its fresh environment and quiet atmosphere. You can spend here a great holiday from your daily busy life. Long Island is perfect for trekking (in jungle), row-boating in sea and snorkeling on Lalaji Bay. Dolphin convoy is very common adjacent to Long Island sea.
How to reach at Long Island?
If you planned to visit at Long Island then you should first reach at Port Blair. After that you can travel for Long Island with a Ferry from Phownix Bay Jetty of Port Blair.

Available Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Ferry Stoppages: Havelock Island and Neil Island (via).
NB- Friday ferry timing and way root is different from above stated.
Another option is to hire a fisherman’s vessel from Phoenix Bay Jetty. Roadway infrastructure of the Island is very poor. Any types of four wheeler vehicles services, like Bus, Taxi or auto-rickshaw are not accessible here. You have to travel here on walking or with a boat from jetty Ghat.
