Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh

The climatic characteristic of Vijayawada is tropical wet and dry climate, with hot summers and moderate winters. Usually, three major seasons are observed in the city namely summer, winter and monsoon.

Travel by Air: There have a domestic airport in Vijayawada City which located at Gannavaram, about twenty km from the city. Flights from major cities of India like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Vishakapatnam and Mangalore are available here. Vijayawada Airport is currently being served by Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways, Spice Jet and Air India.

Travel by Rail: Vijayawada Junction is the largest railway junction on the South Central Railway network. It is located along the Chennai - Howrah and Chennai - Delhi rail route. Other major Railway Stations of the city are Madhuranagar, Gunadala, Rayanapadu, Kondapalli, Nidamanuru, Krishna canal junction and Ramavarappadu. You can reach into the city from other big cities of India through the stations.

Prakasham Barrage is founded from Krishna River which located across the neighboring District Guntur. The Barrage canals (three canals) run through Vijayawada city and give a Venetian look.

Kanaka Durga Temple is a popular Hindu temple located on Indrakeeladri hill in Vijayawada city. The temple was constructed by Maharaja Poosapati Madhava Varma during 13th century. During the Festival Dusehra or Dasara, thousands of Hindus arrive to this temple after a holy bathe in the River Krishna close by the temple.

Gandhi Hill is a memorial hill of Mahatma Gandhi (Father of Nation) where 7 Stupas of Gandi were constructed on this hill at a height of 501 ft. you also found here a Gandhi Memorial Library, a Sound and Light Show on his life and a planetarium. Toy train journey when traveling to this hill is another attraction.

Victoria Museum is popular for some great collection of ancient sculptures, paintings, idols, weapons, cutlery and inscriptions.

Rajiv Gandhi Park is constructed by the Municipal Corporation of the city which welcomes the tourists at the entrance. A mini zoo and a musical water fountain are added to this park.

Gunadala Matha Shrine is a church dedicated to mother Mary. Initially it was a Statue in 1925 which installed by Rf. Arlati at Gundala and later a church was constructed in 1971, now it popularly known as St. Mary’s church.

Namburu town is famous for spiritual centers like kaligardens and Hreenkar theerth (Jain temple).

Kondapalli village is situated just 16 km away from Vijayawada city where you will found a beautiful ancient fort which was constructed by King Krishna Deva Raya during seventh century. It is a suitable spot for picnic.

Subramanya Swamy Temple is located on Indrakeeladri hill. It is one of most popular Hindu Temple in Vijayawada city. Lots of Hindu devotees arrive here during Skanda Shashti Festival. This Temple is being maintained by Iddipilli Family.

Sri Nagarala Sri Maha Lakshmi Ammavaru Temple is one of the most popular Hindu temples in Vijayawada city located in Chiitinagar. Lots of Hindu devotees arrive here during the festival Dusehra or Dasara. This Temple is being maintained by Nagaralu Community.
