Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada (Vijaya - Victory and Wada – place, mean Place of Victory) also known as Vijayavata and Rajendracholapura located in Krishna District about 275 km away from Hyderabad city. It is the third biggest city in Andhra Pradesh (after Hyderabad and Vizag) with an area of 62 (approx) sq km. According to the census report 2011 India, approximately 1048240 people reside in Vijayawada city.
A hillock (Indrakiladri Hill) and two rivers namely Krishna and Budameru have bounded the Vijayawada city entirely. Krishna River placed on the east and west sides of the city and Budameru River on the north. Total Western parts of the city are covered by Indrakiladri Hill. Another National highway No-221 connects the city to Jagdalpur in Madhya Pradesh state.

Regular bus services from the every larger cities of India accessible here and lots of state buses of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) provide a good service to reach major destinations from Vijayawada.

Prakasham Barrage is founded from Krishna River which located across the neighboring District Guntur. The Barrage canals (three canals) run through Vijayawada city and give a Venetian look.
Kanaka Durga Temple is a popular Hindu temple located on Indrakeeladri hill in Vijayawada city. The temple was constructed by Maharaja Poosapati Madhava Varma during 13th century. During the Festival Dusehra or Dasara, thousands of Hindus arrive to this temple after a holy bathe in the River Krishna close by the temple.
Gandhi Hill is a memorial hill of Mahatma Gandhi (Father of Nation) where 7 Stupas of Gandi were constructed on this hill at a height of 501 ft. you also found here a Gandhi Memorial Library, a Sound and Light Show on his life and a planetarium. Toy train journey when traveling to this hill is another attraction.
Victoria Museum is popular for some great collection of ancient sculptures, paintings, idols, weapons, cutlery and inscriptions.

Gunadala Matha Shrine is a church dedicated to mother Mary. Initially it was a Statue in 1925 which installed by Rf. Arlati at Gundala and later a church was constructed in 1971, now it popularly known as St. Mary’s church.

Kondapalli village is situated just 16 km away from Vijayawada city where you will found a beautiful ancient fort which was constructed by King Krishna Deva Raya during seventh century. It is a suitable spot for picnic.
