Tripura is one of the most perfect tourist destinations in India due to its unique landforms and geographical characters. The state is mostly (about 60 % of total area) in Himalaya’s hilly terrain. 60% of total region of Tripura is covered with forest.

Among this forest, 39% is Reserve or protected area by the state government. Some of these protected areas are Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, Gumti Wildlife sanctuary, Roa Wildlife Sanctuary, Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, Clouded Leopard National Park and Rajbari National Park.

The capital town Agartala is the most attractive destination in Tripura. You will found several attractive spot in the city like the Ujjayanta Palace, Kunjaban Palace, Malancha Niwas, Fourteen Goddess Temple, Kamalasagar Lake & Kali temple, Tripura Govt. Museum and many more.

Some other major tourist spots in the state are Tripurasundari Temple of Udaipur which is popularly known as “one of the 51 Pithasthans”, Unakoti Shaiba pilgrimage site at Kailashahar , Pilak famous for its medieval archaeological remains, Udaipur town, Neermahal or water palace located at Melaghar, Jampui Hill, Bhavaneswari Temple at Udaipur, rock carvings on steep mountain wall of Deotamura, beautiful Dumboor Lake near Udaipur and Rudrasagar of Melaghar.

How and where to go?

Travel by Rail
The Railway network of the State is not so good. The nearest big railway station of the state is located at Kumarghat which 140 away from Agartala (capital city of Tripura).

Travel by Road
Tripura government maintained a well-connected road network throughout the state. National Highway No.44 is directly connected to Guwahati via Shillong. One can reach here from its neighboring country Bangadesh via Akhaura border check post with an appropriate visa.

Travel by Air
If you planned to go Tripura by airways then the airport of Agartala city would be suitable destination to you. Regular flights from the cities of Calcutta and Guwahati to the airport of Agartala are available. There have also three more small airports in Tripura located at Khowai, Kailashahar and Kamalpur.
