More over thirty percent (95221 sq km) of total area of the state Madhya Pradesh is covered with forest. There have nine national parks namely Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha National Park, Satpura National Park, Sanjay National Park, Madhav National Park, Van Vihar National Park, Mandla Plant Fossils National Park, Panna National Park, and Pench National Park.

You will found here 3 world heritage sites namely the Khajuraho Monuments circuit including Devi Jagadambi temple, Buddhist Monuments of Sanchi and the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka. Some other historical spots of the state are Ajaigarh, Amarkantak, Bandhavgarh, Bhopal, Chitrakuta, Gwalior, Indore, Burhanpur, Maheshwar, Mandleshwar, Pachmarhi, Sonagiri and Ujjain.

Major ancient temples of the state are usually placed in Khajuraho namely Adinath, Bhramma, Chatturbhuj, Chausath Yogini, Chitragupta, Duladeo, Parsvanath, Parvati, Shanthinatha, Jagadamba, Kandariya Mahadev, Lakshmana, Matangeswara, Vamana, Varah, Vishwanath and Javari Temple at Khajuraho.

Some other important temples of the state are Neelakanteswara Temple at Udaipur near Sanchi, Omkareshwar Temple at Indore, Sasbahu Temple at Gwalior, Shiva Temple at Neori near Bhopal, Shiva Temple at Bhojpur near Bhopal and Teli Ka Mandir at Gwalior.

How and where to go?

Travel by Train: Railway transportation of Madhya Pradesh is also good. Bhopal is the main destination railway station in the state and it is connected to the most of major places in the state. You have to reach Bhopal first to travel the state by rail.

Travel by Road: Madhya Pradesh government has maintained a well connected road network by several National and State Highways. Bhopal is the main destination city in Madhya Pradesh from where regular Bus and Taxi services are available. And the city is well-connected to the other major cities of the state like Gwalior, Khajuraho, Indore and Jabalpur.

Travel by Air: If you planned to go Madhya Pradesh by airway then the airports of Gwalior, Khajuraho, Indore, Jabalpur or the capital city Bhopa would be suitable to you. Regular flights (Air India, Zed Airlins and Kingfisher Red flights) are available from these airports to other big cities of India.
