All about Victoria Memorial HallVictoria Memorial Hall is dedicated to the Queen of United Kingdom, Victoria. She was also the Empress of India during British rule from 1876 to 1901. After her death in 1901, Lord Curzon who was the Viceroy of that moment in India, had decided to build a memorial hall for Queen Victoria. the construction of the builind was st ared in 1906 and it was completed in 1921. The Victoria Memorial hall is the most beutiful construction during the British Raj in India. it was constructed by Lord Curzon, the President of the British Institute of Architects, in 1921. It is just like a museum and you will found here lots of memorabilia relating to Queen Victoria and a Royal Gallery housing a number of portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert (Husband of Victoria) and paintings illustrating their lives. The Memorial hall is placed on an area of 64 acres in Kolkata and the main building is covering an area of 338 ft by 228 ft with maximum height of 170 feet.
