Jammu and Kashmir is one of the most beautiful tourist's destinations in the World for its amazing natural beauty, superb Himalaya’s snowy hill veiw and surprising lakes. The state is referred to as the paradise of Earth or the Switzerland of the Eastern World. The state is a perfect place for adventuring, sporting or scatting and trekking on snow.
Major temples in the state are Amarnath Temple (placed in Kashmir close to Pahalgam), Raghunath Temple (placed in Jammu region), Vaishno Devi Temple (placed in Jammu region), Shankaracharya Temple (placed in Jammu region), Sudh Mahadev Temple (near to Patnitop hill station), Avantipur Temple (placed in Avantipur), Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji (placed in Jammu region), Nangli Sahib Gurudwara (placed in Jammu region) and Ranbireshwar Temple (placed in Jammu region).
Major lakes in the state are Dal Lake (in Shrinagar), Gangabal Lake (location Ganderbal, Kashmir Valley), Manasbal Lake (location Kashmir Valley), Mansar Lake (62 km from Jammu), Pangong Tso (location Ladakh region), Tsomoriri Wetland Conservation Reserve (location Ladakh region) and Wular Lake (location Kashmir in Bandipore district). Some other attractions of the state are several wildlife sanctuaries, gardens or parks and Monasteries.
How and where to go?
Travel by Road: There have two corridors to enter in the state: once via Jammu and up to Srinagar and another via Manali up to Leh. The state is directly connected with several big cities by road route namely Delhi, AmritsarAmbala, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Shimla and Manali.
Travel by Air: There have three Airports is Jammu & Kashmir namely Jammu Airport, Shrinagar and Leh Airports. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Air Deccan flight services are available from these airports.
Travel by Rail: Railway transport of the state is also good. Udhampur railway station is placed to most north corner of Jammu and Kashmir as well as India. The Kashmir railway line being processed by central government to connect the state with rest of country.
N.B. – There have some restricted areas along with the international border with Pakistan and China. From the time of Indian independence in 1947, an argument between India and Pakistan sustain still today with some region of Ajad Kashmir. Actually this region is a part of India but Pakistan claimed that the region as their constituent and they create some terrorism in this zone. Some region in Ladakh (most northeastern parts of India) is a matter of controversy between India and China. So, Indian government has created a line called line of control (LOC) and within this line the people or tourists is protected by Indian army.
