Oriental Bank of Commerce is a medium-sized public sector bank (PSB) of India, with a network of 2,408 branches and about 2,625 ATMs spreads across India. The headquarters of the bank is situated in Gurgaon city of Haryana, India. On 30th August 2019, Indian Finance Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman had declared the plans to merge Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India with Punjab National Bank. The proposed merger would make Punjab National Bank as the second largest public sector bank (PSB) in India.

Oriental Bank of Commerce was founded by Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal on 19th February 1943 in Lahore of British India (now in Pakistan). After partition, it close down all of its branches from newly formed Pakistan and shifted its registered office to Amritsar of Punjab, India . In 1980, the bank has been nationalized and the bank became a wholly-owned Government bank. In 1997, OBC acquired Bari Doab Bank and Punjab Cooperative Bank. The total asset of the bank is ₹ 271,909.57 crore as of 2019. The employee strength of the bank is about 21,729 by 2019.
