How to reach Himachal Pradesh

The Transport and communications of the state are not so well-organized like a plain-landed state of India due to its land complexity. The state is mainly well connected with its road route. Himachal Pradesh is not so well infrastructures in railways and airlines but the work of construction these routs are under processing.

Travel by roads

Road routes of the state have made good communications from district to district with a total length of 28,210 km. There have 3 National Highways which represent 1,235 km road routes which cris-cross throughout the state. NH No - 20 go through several districts of Himachal Pradesh. This highway has connected several districts into a network. Mainly, it goes through from Nurpur to Dharamshala, Palampur, Joginder Nagar and ends at Mandi. NH No - 21 enters from the state Chandigarh and goes through Leh via Bilaspur, Kullu, Mandi and Manali. NH No - 22 enters from Ambala and goes through Kinnaur via Solan, Shimla, Narkanda and Rampur. During the winter and monsoon seasons few roadways lock due to the snowfall and landslides on the roads. 

Transports of roadways mainly depend on buses and private Taxies in Himachal Pradesh. If you want to make trip in the state then you have to choose Delhi or Chandigarh to enter the state by Bus or Taxi. There have regular bus services to enter your destination place of Himachal Pradesh like as Shimla Kullu, Manali, Mandi, Ambala, Chail and Dehradun. You can tender a private taxi or Sumo car to visit your choice full place.

Travel by Trains

Railway track is found in a few places in the state. Two Railway narrow gauge lines pathankot to jogindarnagar (longest railways in the state connected with Punjab state) and kalka to shimla with length of 96 Km and a broad gauge line from Nangal to Talwara (under construction) are found in Himachal Pradesh (HP). The main Railway Stations of the state are Pathankot, Joginder Nagar, Shimla etc.

Travel by Air

There are three domestic airports in the state. Bhuntar Airport placed in Kullu Valley, Jubbarhatti irport placed in Shimla the capital town and Gaggal Airport placed in Kangra district. Another Airport Banikhet is under construction. There have no international airports in the state. Usually the airports are connected with the airports of Delhi and Chandigarh. Deccan airlines, Air India airlines, MDLR airlines have flights from Delhi and Chandigarh to Kullu and return back. Jagson Airlines has flights only from Delhi to the capital town Shimla.
