Calangute Beach is one of the most visited tourist spots in North Goa. It is located on the Northern Coast of Goa at the Calangute village about 7 km away from Mapusa and 14 km from Panaji. This beach is placed just 2 km north from Baga Beach and another near by beaches are Anjuna and Candolim. This beach is the largest and most crowded destination in North Goa. You will find thousands of foreign and local tourists through out the year.
Calangute Beach becomes most crowded during the festival of the Christmas and New Year Celebration. Some major popular activities in the beach are fishing, water sporting, boating, Sun bathing on brown sandy beach, kite surfing, windsurfing, shopping (flea market) and many more.
Near by attractions of Calangute beach are Anjuna Beach & market, Arpora Beach, Baga Beach, Aguada Fort, Chapora Fort and many more. Night stay at Calangute Beach (till 11:00 pm) is a very memorable experience for night club lovers. Maximum night clubs of Calangute Beach are located around the Tito's Lane. Some best of these are Club Tito, Cafe Mambo and Cavala caters.
The climate of Calangute Beach remains hot and humid except in winter and receives heavy rain due to the proximity of Arabian Sea. Best season is winter when temperature stay pleasant.
Summer at Calangute: Usually, this season continues for a long times (March to early-July) at Calangute Town. Temperature may reach up to 35°C with a high humidity in May. Average temperature during this season is about 27°C.
Monsoon at Calangute: Usually, monsoon is continued from mid-June to September at Calangute Beach. Due to the proximity of Arabian Sea this city receive heavy rainfalls and some thunder storms during this season. Average annual rainfalls of Calangute Village are approximately 290 cm.
Winter at Calangute: Usually, winter season of Calangute village persists for a short terms (December to February) with a pleasant temperature. Average temperature during this season varies from 15°C to 27°C.
Travel by Airway: There have only one Airport in Goa located at Dabolim about 49 km away from the Calangute Beach. It is an international airport and the international flights from the country of Qatar, Dubai, Sharjah, Kuwait, Britain, Germany, Netherlânds, Russia, and the major cities of India are available here. After reaching to the airport you can easily reach to Calangute Beach with a four wheeler car.
Travel by Roadway: Calangute beach is directly connected to Panaji (14 km away) via Mapusa. There have lots of government (Kadamba Transport Corporation, KTC) and private bus operator from Panaji bus station to Calangute Town. You can also hire a private Taxi to reach here.
Travel by Railway: Nearest rail station of Calangute Beach located at Thivim (Thivim Railway Station) about 16 km away. It takes around 21 minutes to reach at Calangute Beach from Thivim Railway Station. Other important railway stations are located little away at Margao and Vasco Da Gama.
